Red tape reduction for small and family business
The Queensland Government has today announced the Queensland Small Business Commissioner will have new focus on reducing red tape for small and family businesses.
Delivering on a key commitment of the Crisafulli Government’s 100 Day Plan, the Statement of Expectations for the Small Business Commissioner outlines the commitment to consult and collect feedback from small and family businesses to identify practical solutions to remove red tape.
Another key focus will be on dispute resolution, identifying practical solutions which will in turn save small and family businesses time and money.
Small and family businesses employ more than one million Queenslanders and is one of the largest employers in the state.
Unfortunately, under a high red tape environment of the former Government, Queensland has experienced the highest failure rate of businesses of anywhere in the nation, with more than 30% of new small businesses failing within the first five years.
Premier David Crisafulli said red tape had been weighing down business across Queensland for far too long.
“These are the first steps to unleashing the true potential of small and family businesses here in Queensland,” Premier Crisafulli said.
