    Work for Queensland

    In August 2011, Premier Anna Bligh hosted the Work for Queensland Summit on the Gold Coast. The meeting brought together resource industry executives, Mayors from the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Whitsundays, Cairns and the Fraser Coast and key government stakeholders. On the agenda was initiatives to ensure job opportunities from the resources boom are maximised and enjoyed by as many Queenslanders as possible

    Jobs Expos

    A key action arising from the summit was to host a series of Work for Queensland Mining and Gas Jobs Expos in key areas of the state. The expos provided jobseekers with information about a range of careers available in the resources sector and training opportunities.

    Resources 101

    The TAFE Queensland Resources 101 pre-employment program helps eligible jobseekers gain access to resource sector careers. The free course provides an introduction to the industry and base level engineering skills, and consists of 12 units over five weeks.
